umm.. nice movie - Turtles can Fly -

Sebenarnya sih .. jujur aja .. udah bosannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn ama film-film buatan holywood ato film buatan lokal .. bukan nya ga mencintai film buatan kita sendiri, gw mencintai banget malah .. tapi hanya film-film tertentu juga exp: cut nyak dien .. nagabonar .. kebanyakan film-film lama deh yang gak terlalu banyak ngayal dan kebanyakan ceritanya bertele-tele dan kebanyakan dramanya .. gak asikk ..

Film barat apalagi .. udah bener-bener bosan .. yaang katanya masuk box office lah .. yang menang ini menang itu .. tapi tetap aja sekerang ini ga mampu menyentuh rasa sense gw atas film itu .. apalagi liat actor/aktris nya.. dah muak.. tambah lagi adegan panas .. makin serasa mau muntah ..

Nahh untung ada penyegaran nih diantara rasa ketertarikan gw ama film mulai jemu.. Gw nonton ga sengaja di Metro nih malam minggu kemaren. Film Iran .. dulu pernah juga nonton Film buatan iran .. tapi taulah yang diputar disini kan dikit banget ..

Dulu nonton Children of Heaven .. Itu ceritanya anak laki-laki yang ikutan lomba lari demi bisa mendapatkan sepasang sepatu untuk saudara perempuannya? Klo menurut gw sih tuh film bagus dan mampu menghipnotis mata gw untuk selalu terpaku ke layar teve. Simple .. gak aneh-aneh dan nature banget ..

Dannnn ternyata film yang gw tonton kemaren - judulnya Turtles can Fly - waaaaaaaaaaaaaaa juga bagussss.......... Film tenteng kehidupan anak-anak pengungsi Iran yang bersuku Kurdi .. Simple .. Mudah dimegerti dan menyentuh hati. Setting waktu nya zaman perang menjelang runtuhnya Saddam .. tapi yang nampak difilm emang sih bukan perangnya tapi ada apa "dibalik layar" perang itu. Anak-anak pengungsi, kehidupan mereka , tempat tinggal .. bagaimana masyarakatnya .. serta tentu saja .. akibatnya ..

Dan .. untuk film ini two thumbs up deh ... Suka abieees :D sampe-sampe aku nyari film nya sendiri untuk ntar ditonton lagi lain waktu dan dapat hihihihihi .. senangnyaaa

Made by Kurdish-Iranian filmmaker Bhaman Khobadi ("A Time of Drunken Horses") "Turtles Can Fly" is a film of rare beauty and humanity set in the lead up to the most recent Gulf war. It takes us to the heart of the Kurdish enclaves in Northern Iraq – a hellish place of dust and cliffs where refugees forge a kind of life in a makeshift tent village.

Gangs of orphaned kids roaming the camp seem to run the joint; especially a bossy 13 year old called Satellite (Soran Ebrahim). He hooks up satellite dishes so the village elders can watch CNN to see when the war is coming. He's also in charge of the bands of kids who work disarming the minefields and selling explosives for cash.

When Satellite marches these kids off to the minefields, we see the most harrowing scenes of children with missing arms and legs – extracting the tops of landmines from the earth with their teeth. The pain is just palpable.These are children who have long left childhood behind, because they've had to survive alone, or perhaps with a couple of siblings if they're lucky. We meet Henkov (Hirsh Feyssal), a boy with no arms said to be a "seer." Henkov lives with his sister Agrin (Avaz Latif) and a toddler who appears to have been abandoned - so they're acting as his surrogate parents. Agrin, a haunted-looking waif, clings uncertainly to life, teetering on the brink of a high cliff, unsure if she wants to even survive this life.

There is such pain and such feeling in this film, but there is humour too.

Some of the most spirited moments involve Satellite and his bike, the one glimmer of colour in this bleak landscape strewn with broken tanks and mortar shells. Laced with ribbons and horns in an even more theatrical way than most kids' bikes, it is his prize possession. This is our only reminder that he is actually a child – the rest of his life is just so adult and so calculating because he's had to become that way to survive.

"Turtles can Fly" is one of the most powerful anti-war films I've ever seen, without hectoring or over-explaining. It just lays out the brutal truth, quietly and profoundly - and it stays with you for days afterwards.
